Getting
prominently listed on the AOL.com (America Online) search
engine can drive a substantial amount of visitors to your
web site.
The 'back
door' to getting your web site listed at the top of AOL.com
is using Google's pay per click service called Adwords. AOL
currently has a relationship with Google and features sites
listed with Google's Adwords at the top of AOL.com's results.
Here's
how it works....
When a
search is performed on AOL.com for a keyword, AOL.com checks
with Adwords and displays 4 Adwords sites directly above the
regular AOL.com listings in a special category called 'Sponsored
Links'.
Here is
an example of what the search results at AOL.com
look like:

As you
can see, the four 'sponsored links' from Adwords are prominently
featured on top of AOL.com's results page. The good news is
that (depending on the keyword), listings with Adwords are
available for as little as five cents per click. Unlike banner
ads, pay per click services only get paid when a genuine visitor
reads and clicks through to your web site.
Now that
you know the basics, you may want to do a search on AOL.com
for the keywords you are interested in. Just use the following
custom link(s) to search AOL.com
for 'orlando real estate':

Hint:
If you see no sponsored links at the top of the results page,
this probably means
that no one has bid on this keyword yet. If this is the case,
you may be able to capture the first position for as little
as 5 cents per visitor!
If you see four
sponsored links listed, don't worry, you can still appear
above them, by bidding over the existing sponsors by as little
as a penny.
SPECIFIC
TIPS FOR GETTING LISTED ON AOL.COM VIA GOOGLE'S ADWORDS
- When bidding
on Adwords keywords, try to be in 1st - 4th place, in order
to be listed at the top of AOL.com's results.
- Budget tip: If
you are trying to reduce your costs, tailor the text of your
ad to specifically target the type of visitors you are looking
for. Keep in mind, you are not paying to have your ad displayed.
You are only charged when a visitor clicks through.
Example: If
you are a car dealer specializing in sports cars only, mention
this in your ad. This will eliminate people looking for minivans
and compact cars from clicking on your ad and will save you
money. GOOGLE
